The idea for building a website like Where is Asturias was born a number of years ago when Irish national and video production professional Gavin Owens first visited Asturias and was overwhelmed by its beauty and perfectly preserved traditions. After mulling over the idea of what would be the best way to promote Asturias on the international tourism market, he finally teamed up with Dolores Fernández, Valerie A. Jeanpetit and Begoña Panea and set in motion the project that you see before you today. There are also many great professionals working behind the scenes in the areas of management, travel advice and content providing.
Where is Asturias is an ever envolving website and tourism promotion tool designed to work as a magazine format or online TV channel putting particular emphasis on HD video and high quality photos, a factor of huge importance to users of portable devices such as tablets, smart phones etc. As we develop the site further, we will be releasing apps to heighten the user experience.
The site is currently available in English but again, future plans are to build a multi-lingual site accommodating the needs of all travelers wishing to visit Asturias.
Our ambition is to offer families and individuals a useful visual resource when planning their holidays to Asturias but also a complete guide to the region for when travelers arrive and need more information to make their experience a perfect one.
The project is also aimed at offering service providers in Asturias and beyond a chance to appeal to an international tourism market which will in turn promote jobs in the region and assist in the development of the already excellent services that Asturias has to offer.
For us though, the key aspect to the development and maintenance of this website is to make sure that those wishing to visit Asturias for tourism or business and those already here get the most out of their travels and take home with them a sense of absolute satisfaction and a desire to return.
Happy travelling and thanks for visiting our site!
