Playa Cuevas del Mar Beach is one of the jewels in the crown of Asturian beaches. It’s geological make up alone makes it worth a visit and is great for adults and kids alike to play, paddle and discover.
This conch shaped beach is well protected from the elements and the water depth is very gradual making it perfect for all the family. If you like to factor in a swim during your day out walking then Playa Cuevas del Mar is a perfect place to stop at as it is part of the wonderful coastal route in Llanes.
This beach get its name from the multitude of sea caves cut out by the sea and the natural stone pinnacle that juts out into the beach. This pinnacle is quite an unusual structure and often features in many a holiday snap for visitors.
Playa Cuevas del Mar Beach offers all the normal amenities including lifeguard, parking, showers and toilets and there is also a nice bohemian cafe that opens during peak season.
Disability access may be problematic as there is no full ramp to access the beach. A little planning will overcome that.
The beach is also a rock climbing paradise and the seawall routes are well bolted by the local climbing associations.
