Asturias Airport is one of the main infrastructures that allow travelling in the region, acting as a key element for the development of commercial and tourist activities.
Thanks to a series of actions of diverse nature and scale, the airport has facilities and services with enough capacity to attend with the highest quality standard the needs, both present and future, of its users and clients, airlines, and passengers.
The runway is 2,200 meters long, with a taxiway from one end to the other of the main runway, a high-speed taxiway, and an apron with 9 spots that can host up to medium-range aircrafts (Airbus A320, Boeing 737…).
It is equipped with a complete set of air navigation systems to facilitate air operations in any weather condition, guaranteeing safety in all of them. There stands out an ILS landing assistance system, and different radio-assistance and RADAR systems.
In the terminal there are different parking decks, with a public parking with 770 slots. The terminal building of 14700 square meters has 14 check-in counters, 9 boarding gates, 3 of them with jet bridges, and 4 baggage carousels.
The Asturias Airport is connected to the road network of the Principality of Asturias, having direct access through a dual carriageway to the roundabout that gives access to the Asturias Airport, thus facilitation the access from the main cities in the region. There are also direct public transport to those main cities by bus (Avilés, Oviedo and Gijón) and taxi stands right in front of the arrival gate.
The Asturias Airport has a declared capacity of up to 12 flights per hour, and 2.040 passengers (1.180 on arrivals and 860 on departures) per hour. This capacity is offered during opening hours between 7:30 and 23:45 every day of the year. This timetable can be extended two hours after closing hours by request of the companies.
Since 2005 the airport maintains a regular flow of more than a million passengers per year. Last year the number of passengers was 1.3 million.
Nowadays 7 airlines have scheduled flights from and to our airport, connecting Asturias with a total of 14 destinies, 3 of them international ones. Among them we find the main hubs in Spain (Alicante, Barcelona, Lanzarote, Madrid, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, Sevilla, Tenerife and Valencia) and Europe (London – Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted -, Paris – Charles de Gaulle- and Lisbon).
